Is Dubai Metro Working Today? Which Metro Stations are Still Closed?

Kindly plan your journeys ahead of time and follow the instructional signages and the guidance provided by the staff for a seamless journey to your destinations. Alternative Bus services are provided for transportation to the affected stations.

Post the unprecedented flood in Dubai, which took the world by shock on April 16, 2024, and its aftermath in days and weeks to come; the clean, most organized, probably the safest subway in the world: Dubai Metro couldn’t remain unaffected.

Dubai Metro has been operational for 15 years now, with a strong reputation for excellent maintenance, service and overall customer experience. In a city rose in the middle of the desert, it wouldn’t be quite possible to imagine life without a subway or a metro service. Such an efficient transportation service saw obstructions like never before in its 15 years of journey! Some of the metro stations were filled with water, and their videos got circulated rapidly across all social media platforms! Meanwhile, RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) has been working round the clock to complete maintenance of all metro as well as metro routes and stations.

Which Metro Stations are Still Closed?

As of May 01, 2024, Wednesday, most of the metro stations have been operational, despite less frequent than before. However, Dubai Metro’s Red line particularly has faced major issues, leading to the following metro stations still closed:

  1. Energy Station

  2. Mashreq Station

  3. Equity Station

  4. OnPassive Station

Frequency of Metro has also been much slower as well as unpredictable at times. Commuters are made to wait for 10 to even 25 minutes fo the next metro arrival. Dubai Metro’s Green Line is fully functional, with occasional delay from 10 to 15 minutes.

Commuters are, however, led to shuttle bus services by RTA staff. The operational hours of Dubai metro are still the same.

Dubai Metro’s Operational Hours:

Monday to Thursday : 05:00 AM – 12:00 AM (Midnight)

Friday : 05:00 AM – 01:00 am (Next day)

Saturday : 05:00 AM – 12:00 AM (Midnight)

Sunday : 08:00 AM -12:00 AM (Midnight)

On the 15th day of such a once in a lifetime downpour in Dubai, the city’s streets and corners have revived back to normal. However, some of the metro stations are still facing challenges.
